Youth Gathering

The 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering was held on July 22-26 in New Orleans, LA.  38,000 youth and adults attended the event " JESUS JUSTICE JAZZ"! 

It was 5 days of worship, service, and faith building.  New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin thanked everyone at the superdome (where the festivities took place), and read a letter from President Obama.  He said the work the Lutheran people completed on the service projects throughout the week would have taken the city of New Orleans over 3 years to complete.  

Gloria Dei youth and adults were part of the literacy project.  The New Orleans' students were given a book to take home -- the smiles will never be forgotten!
